Client: Tan Cang Cai Mep International Terminal
Project Location: Tan Cang Cai Mep Port, Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province
Execution Period: Q2 / 2024
Scope of Work: Lowering waterside booms of 03 Ship-to-Shore (STS) cranes for trolley rail alignment and hinge pin overhaul; transferring booms to designated onshore repair berths; structural repair and precision machining of hinge bushings and rails for 03 STS cranes; transferring booms back to quay crane tracks; re-erecting booms onto crane portal frames; performing proof load testing and official commissioning handover.
Heavy Equipment Mobilized: 800-ton lattice boom crawler crane mounted on a 10,000-ton heavy-deck barge (ponton); 12-axle hydraulic multi-trailer system; 400-ton and 200-ton mobile all-terrain cranes; 10-ton and 5-ton forklifts.
Client Evaluation: The project was executed with flawless safety, 24/7 continuous shift engineering, and strict adherence to structural engineering standards, completing the project ahead of schedule to minimize container berth downtime.
Key Engineering Milestones:
- Offshore Heavy-Lift Engineering: Marine mooring and stability calculations for the 800T crane barge against tidal currents and ship swells in Cai Mep channel.
- Precision Mechanical Machining: On-site in-situ line boring and custom fabrication of high-hardness alloy bronze bushings to restore zero-backlash hinge rotation.
- Non-Destructive Testing (NDT): Comprehensive magnetic particle (MPI) and ultrasonic testing (UT) of all critical structural welds across the boom and portal frame.
- Re-erection, Rail Alignment & Dynamic Testing: Millimeter-level laser alignment of trolley running tracks, followed by 125% static and 110% dynamic proof load testing.
