On the morning of May 11, Tan Cang Overland Transport JSC (a member unit of Saigon Newport Corporation) officially received and commissioned 4 Rubber-Tired Gantry Hybrid crane systems (Hybrid RTGs) for container operations at Tan Cang – Cat Lai Port. The crane systems were assembled and engineered by Tan Cang Technical Services JSC (tancangtech) under the stringent quality oversight of Mitsui E&S Group (Japan).

Featuring high-clearance steel portal structures and rubber-tired mobility, these RTG cranes are specifically optimized for container terminals requiring high stacking density within limited physical acreage. Their standout technological advantage is the integration of advanced regenerative energy storage batteries paired with a downsized, constant-speed auxiliary diesel generator, cutting fuel consumption by 60–64% and drastically reducing CO₂ emissions.
These 4 Hybrid RTG crane systems were manufactured domestically in Vietnam by Huynh Thy Company under the strict engineering supervision of Mitsui E&S Group—one of Japan’s leading port container handling machinery manufacturers. The manufacturing process brought together premier domestic engineering leaders including Lilama 18, Vinalift, and crucially Tan Cang Technical Services JSC (DVKT / tancangtech).

As the flagship technical unit of Saigon Newport Corporation, DVKT played a pivotal role in structural assembly, erection supervision, systems integration, and full-load commissioning tests for the Hybrid RTG cranes. DVKT’s engineering team enforced the highest technical standards throughout mechanical and electrical installation, while directly executing rigorous safety certifications, dynamic load trials, and drive system optimization to ensure immediate full-capacity commercial operation upon handover. This milestone vividly demonstrates DVKT’s technological mastery and pioneering leadership in realizing the “Green Port” roadmap championed by Saigon Newport Corporation.
Speaking at the official handover ceremony, Lieutenant Colonel Pham Viet Hung—Director of Tan Cang Technical Services JSC—emphasized that the successful assembly, commissioning, and commercial deployment of 4 Hybrid RTG cranes at Cat Lai Port marks a decisive leap forward in achieving green port decarbonization goals, curbing greenhouse emissions, and enhancing terminal operating efficiency. Tan Cang Tech takes immense pride in driving this achievement through the tireless expertise and dedication of its engineering team.

Alongside erection and commissioning, DVKT actively collaborates with Mitsui E&S and domestic fabrication partners to accelerate technology transfer, upskill local technical personnel, and increase domestic localization ratios, driving down equipment manufacturing costs while optimizing lifecycle maintenance.
According to maritime industry leaders, most container terminals across Vietnam continue to operate older diesel machinery that consumes heavy fuel and generates high emissions. Modernizing port equipment with energy-saving, low-emission technologies like Hybrid RTG cranes not only boosts operational productivity but also solidifies the enterprise’s leadership in green, sustainable logistics, elevating Vietnamese seaports to regional and global standards.
